ANDRITZ Spunlace Technology - Not Just Wipes!

Oct 14, 2022 Leave a message

When we talk about using spunlace to make products, we are usually talking about wipes. The wet wipes market still accounts for a major portion of the end use of spunlace nonwovens. But beyond that horizon, there's more to discover about spunlace, and what worlds of products it could open up on and beyond wipes.

In general, spunlace fabrics have product attributes such as softness and bulk, as well as absorbency, which are critical to a large number of end products.

And these end products and markets are driven by one big problem: reducing weight per square meter without degrading end-use product performance.

ANDRITZ offers direct eXcelle card technology and Jetlace spunlace technology to meet more than just these challenges. The weight of the spunlace membrane per square meter is not more than 25 grams, and the uniformity of the network is excellent.

These are ideal conditions for the production of hygiene products, such as backsheets for baby or adult diapers.

For other end products, such as cosmetic applications such as face masks, produced by the dry-laid process, ANDRITZ offers isotropic substrates in the range of 30 to 40 grams per square meter.

ANDRITZ has delivered several production lines serving these applications in recent years.

Beyond the hygiene sector – in fact, wherever nonwoven lightweight products are required, manufacturers can achieve excellent product results based on advanced ANDRITZ technology. At its technical center in Montbono, France, ANDRITZ is constantly testing new ideas together with customers and their development experts.

In addition, the complete solution provided by ANDRITZ offers the opportunity to process other fibers, such as natural fibers such as cotton. The processing of natural fibers, in particular, follows the trend towards the use of natural and renewable raw materials in production.
