"You can't buy non-woven fabrics. This inventory is only a few days." A domestic wet towel manufacturer revealed that due to the lack of raw materials, some of their production lines have been in a semi stop production state. If they can not buy raw materials, they can only stop production in the whole factory.
More than 3 p.m., seen in the wet towel factory, one of its production lines has been suspended. Previously, the line operated 24 hours a day.
Affected by the epidemic situation, the price of non-woven fabrics continued to rise. Melt blown fabrics rose more than 20 times in two months, spunbonded fabrics increased by more than ten times, and hot-air fabrics also increased by eight times
Demand soared, the price of non-woven fabric soared 29 times in a month
Non woven fabric, also known as non-woven fabric, is composed of directional or random fibers. It is called cloth because of its appearance and some properties. Its manufacturing process includes spunbonded method, melt blown method and Spunlaced method.
Affected by the epidemic situation, the demand for epidemic prevention products such as masks has increased greatly. As the core of masks, melt blown non-woven fabrics that intercept bacteria and droplets first ushered in price explosion. Before the epidemic, the price of melt blown non-woven fabric was about 20000 yuan per ton. In February 2020, the price soared to 80000 / ton. In March, the price of meltblown nonwoven fabric exceeded 500000 / ton, with an increase of 29 times. In April, affected by the outbreak of international epidemic, melt blown non-woven fabric ushered in the second round of soaring.
Due to the need for spunbonded nonwovens on the inside and outside of the mask, the price of spunbonded nonwovens also went up all the way, and the orders of some merchants were arranged two months later.
Today, the daily sales order of the wet towel factory is still very large, but there is a shortage of raw materials for fabrics, and some production lines have been in the state of semi-stop production. Wet towel manufacturers said that if they can't sell non-woven fabrics, they will have to stop production in May.
It is understood that the non-woven materials for diapers and wipes are not the same as those for masks. Why are such non-woven fabrics in short supply?
According to industry insiders, SMS non-woven fabrics used in diapers are composite non-woven fabrics, which are hot-rolled from three-layer fiber webs of spunbonded nonwovens + melt blown nonwovens + spunbonded nonwovens. Thin SMS products are suitable for sanitary napkins and diapers, while medium thickness SMS products can be used for disposable protective clothing.
In addition, due to the slight modification of the equipment for the production of diaper non-woven fabric, the non-woven fabric material for mask can be produced. Some enterprises have changed production, which further leads to the shortage of non-woven fabric materials for diapers.
"The change of production may also affect spunlaced nonwovens." Man Rongrong, an analyst at the business agency, said that the price of spunbonded and melt blown nonwovens required for masks is higher, and non-woven fabric manufacturers can also transform their production lines to produce materials needed for masks.
